Think Safety, Work Safely
Carnell have extensive experience of working in safety critical environments. Safety is integral to all aspects of our operations and we are committed to the promotion of a positive health & safety culture.
Targets for 2011
Safeguarding the safety and health of every one impacted by our business is a key priority of the Carnell Board. Generating and maintaining a first-class safety culture is key to our business success, and in 2011 we aim to demonstrate this by:
-
Revising the Quality Management System
-
Gaining Highways Sector Scheme 8 accreditation
- Retaining the RoSPA Gold Award
- Introducing a Management of Occupational Road Risk strategy
Accident Frequency Rate
We identify and manage hazards and risks, through assessment and control systems, whilst any site incidents and accidents result in a board-led root cause investigation.
Our safety performance can be demonstrated by our Zero AFR (0.00), and as of April 2011 we have been 20 months without a reportable accident, accumulating over One Million Safe-Working Hours in the process. We also measure our 'All Accident Frequency' which in 2010 was 2.78 and therefore significantly better than the HA target of 3.50.
Carnell support the Highways Agency goal of Aiming for Zero.
RoSPA Awards
Carnell are members of RoSPA and in 2010 achieved Gold Award status for Occupational Health & Safety. Prior to this, Carnell won Silver for four consecutive years.
Health and Safety Management
Our Occupational Health & Safety Systems have recently been updated and have met the BS OHSAS 18001 standard.
Safety Plan
Our commitment to safety & health is integrated into everything we do, openly sharing a two way flow of knowledge and experience with our employees and everyone we interact with. Our long term aim is to achieve Zero Accidents, as set out in our Safety Plan for 2011. To view the executive summary of this document click here.
