Carnell Achieve Prestigious Health & Safety Accreditation

Carnell are proud to have achieved the sought-after accreditation to BS OHSAS 18001:2007 standard for its highly improved and rigorously implemented Health and Safety Management System.

Formal approval from accrediting body, Chamber Certification Assessment Services Ltd (CCAS) was received earlier this month to confirm that the Carnell system met the requirements of the internationally recognised standard for occupational health and safety management. To achieve this accreditation, Carnell had to demonstrate that it had robust written procedures in place to identify, reduce and control risks. Another equally important factor was to ensure that the procedures were understood and implemented consistently throughout the business.

Darren Nelson, Chief Executive of Carnell remarked: "We are delighted to have achieved the 18001 standard, which further demonstrates our passion for health and safety in our performance and approach.  Despite the economic pressures in the construction industry at present, we have and will continue to invest in keeping our workforce safe."

By showing the business has an extremely high level of health and safety, it reflects well on the business in terms of attracting good quality team members and clients alike. "This is another indicator of how seriously we take safety as no one wants to work for or with a business that has risks attached to it - we have worked hard to ensure we are a safe, reliable organisation at every level" explained Darren.

BS OHSAS 18001 accreditation complements Carnell's existing ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified Quality and Environmental management systems.  For the future, this paves the way for the development of an Integrated Management System that will help to deliver a quality and reliable service whilst minimising business risks and environmental impact in one cohesive structure.
