Carnell launches latest addition to its unique StoneMaster fleet
Carnell, a leader in specialist maintenance and support services for the UK highways industry, has launched the latest addition to its StoneMaster fleet - the SM6 - to help customers produce cost-effective drainage solutions that enhance their carbon credentials.
Amid UK climate change warnings, based on projections from the Met Office, that there will be an average winter rainfall increase of 16% in the future, Carnell has upgraded the StoneMaster fleet to enhance the services of its drainage division.
With a history of producing unique and innovative solutions to resolve client problems in the highways market, Carnell has rolled out the SM6 to allow customers to help reduce carbon and vehicle miles as part of a combined cost-effective and best-value maintenance solution.
By harnessing the exclusive StoneMaster process, Carnell can deliver in-situ recycling of filter drains at the side of the motorway without having to transport any material. This environmentally friendly method results in fewer HGVs on the highways and an annual reduction over traditional methods of 900 tonnes of carbon and 900,000 car miles.
Darren Nelson, Chief Executive of Carnell, said: "Our unique StoneMaster process has had a significant impact in helping to reduce carbon emissions and vehicle miles as part of the in-situ recycling of filter drains process and we are delighted to be launching the SM6 as the latest addition to our fleet.
"By utilising our StoneMaster fleet our customers are able to quantify their contribution to the legally binding ‘carbon budgets' set out in the 2008 Climate Change Act, by clearly illustrating they are dramatically reducing CO2 emissions during the process of maintaining national drainage systems."
