Carnell makes new appointment to spearhead R&D programme

Carnell, a leader in specialist maintenance and support services for the UK highways industry, has launched a new R & D programme with the appointment of materials technologist, Dr Gordon Rowlands as head of research and development.

Dr Rowlands has been working for Carnell since 2003, providing technical support for customers with an emphasis on safety, quality and environmental compliance.

With a background as a materials technologist, Dr Rowlands has helped to develop Carnell's in-house waste-management testing processes to ensure quality control for its customers as well as developing a number of innovative solutions that were quickly adopted by the UK highways maintenance industry.

Dr Rowlands will now lead the team and their new Research & Development programme in evaluating and developing further successful services for Carnell's national customer base.

Darren Nelson, Chief Executive of Carnell, commented: "Gordon has made a significant and innovative contribution to not only Carnell and the work we undertake for our customers, but also the UK highways industry as a whole. This made him the obvious choice to spearhead the new R & D department.

"Gordon and his team will now set out on an advance programme of R & D, which will help to ensure the progress of Carnell, our customers and the UK highways network for many years to come."
