Carnell are supporting the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work Week

Carnell, a leader in specialist maintenance and support services for the UK highways industry, is supporting the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work Week from 19 - 25 October 2009.  This year the Campaign is focusing on Risk Assessment.

Each year the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work holds a Campaign that is focused on a specific health and safety topic. The Campaigns aim to provide health and safety practitioners, employers and employees with an opportunity to make the workplace safer and healthier.

Darren Nelson, Chief Executive of Carnell, said: "Safety is my number one priority and I recognise that the risk assessment process as being the ‘keystone' to providing a safe working environment. As such I am continually emphasising to my staff the importance of getting the risk assessment right and involving everybody in the process therefore this Campaign helps to highlight this."

Carnell employees are being involved in the Campaign through various activities such as carrying out risk assessments, participating in a competition to produce the best site specific risk assessment and attending briefings at site level.

David Rhodes Director of Health and Safety comments: "Highlighting the importance of producing and adhering to suitable and sufficient risk assessments is an ongoing process of education.  This particular Campaign we see as a timely opportunity to promote our new Safety Management System and in particular the risk assessment process."

The European Campaign on risk assessment  is a proactive initiative that enables the topic of risk assessment to be discussed with employees.  Carnell is proud to be supporting the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work Week.
