Owing to the success of similar events in previous years, Carnell held a ‘Back to Work Conference’ for all employees on the first day back after the Christmas break.
Held at the Mecure Hotel, Penkridge near Carnell’s midlands headquarters, both site-based and office staff attended presentations, training and health screening sessions. The primary focus was on safety, which was the key message during speeches from Chief Executive Darren Nelson and SHEQ Director David Foster.
The highlight of the day was provided by special guest Jennifer Deeney, who over the course of an hour, gave a moving account of the devastating consequences after her husband was killed in a work-place accident. Carnell’s workforce was reminded that all accidents are preventable and that they can all make a difference by looking after each other.
Fatigue and Customer Service were other prominent topics discussed as Carnell looked to start the new year on the right note.
