Job Purpose
The purpose of a Highways Operative is to contribute to the execution of road maintenance, construction, and repair. This will involve working as part of a team, following directions from Supervisors, and ensuring compliance with site regulations and safety polices.
The role holder must be flexible and able to work away from home when required, undertake duties at night and on weekends when necessary.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – but not limited to
- Receive initial shift briefings.
- Installing kerbs and edgings
- Flagging and trenching
- Handling drainage tasks at various depths
- Managing ducting and cabinet site set ups.
- Conducting cabling work
- Performing earthworks
- Proficient in interpreting plans and drawings
- Concreting
- Constructing steps
- Ensuring accurate installation of works according to specified details and requirements.
Experience and Qualifications
- NPORS / CPCS training in Excavators/Dupers/Rollers
- CSCS Operative Card
- Cat & Genny
- Roller & Dumper
- Safe excavation techniques
- 1 day First Aid
