Project Management & Temporary Works

Experienced in the management of major multi-million pound schemes as principal contractor to National Highways.

Through comprehensive SHEQ systems and procurement, we have a proven record of safe and efficient programme management of multi disciplinary projects on the strategic road network.

Drainage Renewal & repair

Our civils teams have extensive experience installing all types of highways drainage assets. We have the capability to construct chambers, install various kerb and linear drainage channels and re-profile ditches.

Where major structural defects are identified in pipework our teams can dig-down and excavate any length of defective pipe, install a new pipe and connect it to the existing infrastructure.

Earthworks

We have practical experience in planning and delivering earthworks including geotechnical renewals where we strengthen highway embankments or stabilise cuttings that are showing signs of subsidence. This can incorporate benching, compaction and installing new drainage systems.

We use our extensive supply chain to ensure the highest standards are met for materials, haulage, recycling and waste management.

Accommodation works including site clearance

Our schemes often require us to cordon off existing footpaths and access points to enable us to work safely. Where this is the case, we provide alternative arrangements ahead of the construction phase in the form of accommodation works. This minimises disruption to customers, keeping pedestrians and cyclists safe.

Our site clearance and arboricultural activities are certified in accordance with National Highway Sector Scheme 18.

Signage

We have been installing advance direction signs (ADS) for years, and have all the experience and technical capabilities required to erect static signs, incorporating bases, posts and plates, whatever their size.

We work with RBLI, a nationally recognised social enterprise, to manufacture the signs and supply jerol posts.

Footways & Kerbing

Carnell’s civils teams can undertake complete highways construction from sub-base to surfacing and marking.

We have extensive experience creating footways and cycleways as standalone schemes or part of carriageway widening works.

Existing drainage systems are surveyed and used where possible and installed where required.

MASTIC ASPHALT IRONWORKS REINSTATEMENT

We have developed an industry leading approach to ironworks reinstatement alongside specialist suppliers Ultracrete and PAM. We use the highest quality materials and apply best practice methods at every stage of an ironwork reinstatement, resulting in increased productivity with fewer failures and re-visits.

Our team have gained UCARS accreditation, a systematic training programme which guides participants through the installation of high specification ironwork reinstatement in order to comply with MCHW and British standards.
