Carnell undertook grounds maintenance over a period of two weeks at St. Michael & All Angels’ Church in Penkridge as part of their on-going voluntary commitment to local causes. With the church being a close neighbour of the Carnell head office, we were aware that some help was needed bringing the graveyard access up to standard and so offered our services. During a conversation with Andrew French the Deputy Warden, a wish list was put together of jobs that the church’s elderly volunteers could not carry out themselves.
Activities undertaken included:
Paths uncovered that were buried under turf.
Concrete edgings replaced rotten wooden edgings in memorial garden.
Trees trimmed, weeds cleared and leaves swept up.
Benches brushed down to remove moss and re-painted.
Light boxes which illuminate church exterior cleared of vegetation.
Memorial stones renovated.
St. Michael & All Angels’ Deputy Warden, Andrew French: “It goes without saying that the end result was way in excess of any aspirations we may have had and has given new focus and drive in the on-going task of maintaining and upgrading the church grounds. Your workforce were a credit to Carnell and I would ask you to pass on our thanks to them.
