As the GIS Developer, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for delivering high quality drainage survey reports. You will be using the latest ESRI GIS technologies to maintain and improve the technical workflows from data collection to report delivery. You will be working under the guidance of the technical services manager and Innovations manager to help us align to our IT strategy and future technology road maps.

The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of GIS managerial tasks including similar projects, excellent communication and presentation skills and specifically worked with spatial data sets and relational databases.

Key Accountabilities: 

  • GIS Developer will work with the technical services manager to take responsibility for the delivering survey reports on time and to an excellent standard.
  • Work closely with the Technical Services team to understand and help improve workflows.
  • Assist Technical Services team with database management and bug fixing.
  • Align with of a culture of continuous delivery and improvement, ensuring that key systems are regularly analysed, maintained and improved.
  • Flexibility to travel as role requires including networking with latest technology.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture through visible proactive, consistent and influential behaviours.
  • Keep the company safe by co-operating with others to ensure a coordinated approach to promote a clear understanding of each party’s duties, roles and responsibilities for Safety and Well being.
  • Report all incident, near misses, hazards, taking action as necessary to control hazard as appropriate

Knowledge, Skills and Competence: 

  • Competent in using ESRI products including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS for Server.
  • Strong communication and proven presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of the FME workbench.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Development in Python, SQL, VBA and JavaScript and tool-kits such as arcpy and pandas.
  • Knowledge of manipulating spatial data sets i.e. ESRI, Map Info by creating or modifying geospatial tools.
  • Knowledge of GPS /GNSS RTK data collection techniques.
  • Understanding of managing and deploying on Cloud based platforms i.e. Azure, AWS and GCP.
  • Knowledge of the use of version control systems such as subversion or git.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (TDD, SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)


  • Educated to Masters level in GIS or geo science subject
